A Volunteer Guide is a community volunteer with relevant skills and interests who supports facilitators and their individuals (adults with intellectual or other disabilities enrolled in CLASS, HCS, or TxHmL) at off-site events. The Volunteer Guide acts as an intermediary between the group of facilitators and the event host—like a tour guide—by coordinating entry and schedules, confirming accessibility needs, assisting with wayfinding, sharing updates, and helping the group stay organized and included. This is a non-clinical, non-care role that follows agency policies and directions from staff; personal care remains the responsibility of each individual’s facilitator. Orientation/training and a background check may be required.
